Fr3Sh 2 De@tH!!1~

I wanted to start this blog off by saying hello to Liz Wright and Ryan Lewis. that's all...ok..read on..

I am officially done with classes for my freshman year of college. how freaking weird is that?! Soooo strange. It's probably one of the most bittersweet things in the world. I have met some of the most incredible people on earth here in Rome, GA and have learned so much in the past 9 months. I thought I would end my long absence from the blogging world and pick back up with highlights from my freshman year. I could write this list all night, and I just might...it was THAT good of a year. here we go.

#1 - MOVE IN DAY

Move in day was a weird and crazy day. It consisted of miserable 789 degree weather and it wanted to rain all day but never did so the humidity was brutal. I got to my room first, so I picked the longer, newer bed and my mystery roommate got the crappy one. When Brooke (my roommate) showed up, it was semi-awkward. We did not know each other, but had been texting for the past few weeks about who was going to bring the microwave, the fish bowl and other random conversations. She was nice and her parents were funny and everything turned out ok. It was sad when my parents left, but I'm a big girl and I never cried. This picture was taken at the end of move in day. and for some strange reason I felt the need to bend my body in the worst way possible in order to be the same height as Brookie. big mistake. I look like I'm pooping.

#2 - WENDYS

Wendys is .2 seconds away from Berry College and we have become regular late night customer. The woman who usually takes our order is Marissa. We love her and she is our best friend. not really, but we like the fact that we know her name. I started off the year by ordering a #6 with cheese and a diet coke, and now I have now changed to a chicken sandwich kids meal with cheese with a sprite. Mostly because i have no money. I am also obese now, but it's no big deal. It was worth it.

#3 - INGRID MICHAELSON CONCERT

Ingrid Michaelson was my first concert in the ATL. It was seriously amazing. Greg Holden opened for her and I fell in love with him and his music. It was great. She was hilarious and I want to grow up and be as cool as her one day.

#4 - MEETING ROB BANKS

Rob Banks. get it? like he ROBS BANKS!? anyways. So over the summer at orientation, there was a boy there who I severely disliked. His name was Rob Banks. He was loud and obnoxious and a ladies man. And I wanted nothing to do with him honestly. how sweet of me. Then at the very beginning of school, at a freshman event, he was talking while someone was announcing something, and I told him to be quiet, and people told me I was mean to him. So I apologized the next day, and from there on out we were inseparable. He is amazing and I'm glad he proved m judgements wrong, because I can't imagine life without him now!

#5 - MOUNTAIN DAY

Mountain Day is Berry's biggest tradition dedicated to celebrating Martha Berry's birthday. She's kind of a big deal. Sooo the entire student body walks down a hill together, all in matching pink and blue and we drop pennies into a basket. Call us crazy, but it's the best. Alumni, friends and family make it a priority to be there. It was also the first time I got to see both my parents since move in day, so that was awesome! This picture is famous from mountain day. I love it. We randomly look preppy.

#6 - DISNEY WORLD!!!

Courtney, Brookie and I spent our Fall Break at the most exciting place on earth. That's right..Disney World. I feel like I'm 9 years old every time I go, and I wouldn't change a thing about that. I love the rides, the people watching and the $25 burgers. We had such a fun time and got to go for free because Brookie has some sweet hookups. My favorite ride was splash mountain. Basically because I STALK any ride that is even close to a log flume. I don't know why but I could live on one. good times.

#7 - TRIP TO KNOXVILLE

I've never been the biggest college football fan, actually no one I ever knew was, but in the south, that is all that matters. Rob's roommate is in love with Tennessee's team so we went and saw a game one weekend. Although orange really isn't my color, I rocked it that night. It was cold and our seats were so far away, but it was so fun. We spent one day in Chattanooga and it's one of my favorite cities ever. so awesome. GO VOLS!

#8 - SEMI-FORMAL

Good times at Semi-Formal. Actually I'm lying, the DJ was horrible and the food was mediocre, but I still managed to have a good time. I had just gotten back from a Campus Outreach retreat, which would have been on this list, but I didn't take any pictures. I got to know some amazing girls who live on my hall and this was our first event that we attended together. The people in this picture are now my best friends (minus Rob, he was somewhere else..) Even Brad flew in for the occasion. what a champ.

#9 - WEEKEND AT THE CABIN

After getting to know these new amazing friends, a small group of us went to some random town and stayed in Haley's cabin. We all slept in one room and Micheal's snoring made me want to shoot myself in the head. We had soooo much fun and felt like grown ups. We made our own meals and made our own fire. We hiked up some big waterfalls and Arielle and I were kinda pissed about it. It was hot and difficult, but we did it. We stayed up late and played all kinds of games, and realized how unimportant and unnecessary cell phones, tv and internet are. As long as we have each other, we have more fun than anyone I know.

#10 - THANKSGIVING AT HOME WITH ANNA

My first time home was for Thanksgiving. Which totally rules because I wish I could have Thanksgiving food every single day. I would love my life. I would weigh 32789 pounds, but I could care less. My friend Anna came home with me and I showed her how awesome the north is. We had tons of fun and got to hang out with my amazing friends from high school. We spent lots of time with Leah LaPalombara who is my soulmate. shout out to lee lee. This was Anna's first time on an airplane, and I'm honored that it was to Philadelphia. The city of brotherly love. amen.

#11 - ROB CAME TO PHILLY!

I did not want to drive the brutal 13 hours back to PA by myself, so Rob drove me home! He drove the entire time and we only stopped 3 times to pee and get gas. We packed lunches and didn't eat dinner until we got there. We are proud of this. We had loads of fun and spent our time in New York, on South Street showing him what true cheesesteaks are, and hanging out with my awesome family. He loved it and got to have the whole basement to himself. He then flew home and went to Cabo for Christmas 4 days later. Life is hard for him.

#12 - BLACK LIGHT DANCE

This dance was really really fun. It was held in the newly built ballroom and the DJ was legit. He even played Shots. That's how you know if a DJ is good or not. Besides the fact that 75% of students who attended were drunk, and and unnamed boy tried to dance with me a little too much, it was a good time. We glowed in our whites and neons.

#13 - CASINO NIGHT

Casino night is one of Berry's most exciting and highly anticipated events. Decked out with poker, blackjack and an illusionist, this was a night to remember. We got all dolled up and pretended like we were gambling. Good times. The food was excellent and that's all that really matters. It was also a great occasion for me to whip out my blue leopard stockings.

#14 - SNOW IN GOERGIA?!

That's right. It snowed. Everyone thought it was an absolute blizzard. It look like what would classify as a 2 hour delay to me. But it was fun none the less. Classes got out early and we spend the rest of the day playing and running around. It was so great. made me feel right at home.

#15 - RECORDING WITH ROB

Rob writes awesome music and I spent Spring break with him and we got to spend 12 hours in a studio recording his music. It was such an incredible experience and I am sooo thankful he had me be a part of it! (check us out on www.purevolume.com/partyof2) The producer was amazing and hilarious and we had such a fun time. Loved it.

#16 - ST. PATRICK'S DAY IN SAVANNAH

Rob, Matt, Ashton, Courtney and I spent this irish holiday in the greatest place on earth. Since Court lives in Savannah, we were right in on the action of the big parade and got to have so much fun in Savannah for the last few days of spring break. 98% of people there were completely wasted, but we had a blast. We even went on a $15 ghost tour in a hearse with three strangers. Interesting. We had celebratory cigars and got to eat pralines. life is good.

#16 - NEEDTOBREATHE CONCERT

For Rob's birthday, I took him to the Needtobreathe concert in Atlanta. IT WAS SO AMAZING. honestly one of the best concert's I've ever been to. And we got to see lots of awesome Berry people there. Needtobreathe sounds exactly like they do on their CDs when they're performing. It was worth every penny and I had a blast. ahhhh. I want to see them again. now.

#17 - HALEY AND LAURA'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!!

My parents came down to GA for my birthday and Haley's birthday is right after mine, so we had a little joint birthday party. It was so fun to spend time with friends and my parents and eat cake and play games. I got a cannon Rebel for my birthday so I stalk it now, and my pictures rule. This is a picture of my dysfunctional group of friends. I love them with all my heart. Especially Jamie who is dead seriously smiling. I love you Jamie.

#18 - EASTER IN HILTON HEAD

Rob's grandparents live on Hilton Head Island so we went there for Easter. when I retire i am SO living there. I love it. And Nana cooks the best food ever. It's always seafood so i love it. Rob and I got severe sunburn and we're both going to die of skin cancer any minute. It was worth it. We had so much fun and went to the sunrise easter service on the beach. loved it. the sunsets were out of control and this picture is from one awesome sunset when we went on this cool pier. Rob is wearing his Nana's jacket. it had shoulder pads. just sayin...

#19 - FORMAL

Formal was super fun this year. I didn't know what to expect because prom in highschool was the BOMB. But formal was still a good time. Rob and I wore matching black All Stars and rocked it. We went out for a delicious dinner beforehand as well. Just an all around good time. And i got to wear my favorite dress in the world again. Rob kinda resembled a Spanish Rock Star. I was feelin it.

#20 - ATHENS

Court and I drove up to Athens a few weeks ago and stayed with Diana. We had so much fun and got to taste what it was like to go to a big school. It was exciting, but I am very glad that I go to Berry. We went to a huge party with a live band and those were some good times. Can I just say that Athens has the best food in the world!? From amazing tacos, to the best BLT salad a girl could ask for. I loved every bite. Bravo, Athens.

All in all this year has been AMAZING and it is super bittersweet that it is over. I have made some of the most amazing friends in the world here and I could not have made a better decision than to come to Berry. I'm so thankful that Courtney goes to school with me, and I would die without that girl. I was so blessed with a fun and spontaneous roommate who loves food almost as much as I do. I'm so glad I know Rob and have finally found someone out there as weird and free spirited as I am. I'm so happy I know Jamie Carelson and can always laugh my head off with her no matter what the situation. I'm so lucky to have met Chelsea Wegesin and have loved every one of our talks about hundreds of different topics. I'm so glad I know Arielle DeBrun and can discuss the latest looks on lookbook and the latest lokos sported by some of Berry's finest. I'm so thankful I met Haley Sewell and I have someone who I can laugh so hard i cry with and is as sarcastic as I am. Friends rule. and summer will be sad without them. If freshman year was this fun, who knows what fun we'll have next year :)

Berry College. I experienced it firsthand.

You have a great body

Just a few minutes ago at lunch, Rob (if you don't know who this is please reference my previous post) complimented Chelsea on her smokin' gymnast body. Chelsea does have a killer bod and no one would deny that. But Chelsea did not know how to respond to such a compliment. This is something that we all deal with. (not the killer bod part, the awkward compliment part..) I'm really bad at receiving compliments myself, because I either don't think that person is telling the truth, or I don't know how to respond without sounded conceited and vain.

There are a few great ways of responding to compliments that I have learned over the years by observation...
-there's always the classic.."you too!" response. Which people use 85% of the time, but only mean it 3% of the time. If someone compliments you on what a great shirt you're wearing, do NOT say "you too" if they are wearing a heinous article of clothing. It's a lie and they know it. Use this response appropriately.
-One response that I use quite frequently when people compliment my clothes is responding with the location that I bought that article of clothing....for example:
"laura, I love you skirt!"
"I got it at Macys!"
I need to stop doing this so much. JUST SAY THANK YOU. they could care less where you got it. If they wanted to know where you got your skirt they would just ask. moving on..
-"Thanks so much!" is always a great way to respond to a compliment on your smile, body, clothes, a musical performance etc...just saying thank you is all you really need to do. Don't feel like you have to out-do that person's compliment with your response. They don't care.
-Some of the most awkward compliments I've ever received were after I would help lead worship at my church. People would come up to me after the service and tell me what a great job I did. I felt so wrong about it. I feel like I shouldn't be recognized when I'm leading worship, it's about God NOT about me. But anways...I would always make a really awkward face and say thanks in a shaky weird voice. But I'm beyond that now.

No one compliments me anymore so i dont have to worry about this.

SHOUT OUT TO CHELSEA AND ARIELLE LOVE YOU GURLZZZZZ

Liz - your blog is on my top 10 visited sites page on Safari. Embarrassing? no way.

I have a lot to catch the blogging world up on in my life. At this very moment I am laying in my bed with 32879 text books and leisure reading books laying all around me. my phone next to me, and a piece of chocolate in my mouth. Life is good. Not really. this week is finals week. I just took my COM 203 exam. it took me 40 minutes. not sure if that's a good or bad thing. I'm going to go with good thing. i have a psychology exam wednesday, english paper due thursday and econ exam friday. Econ will be the death of me. I'm certain.

For the record. I only have like 10 or 12 friends here at berry college. I'm not complaining, i love them all dearly. so don't be alarmed when i reference them. Here they are...

LTD2!!!!1~

I have the most laughable job in the universe. while the beloved LTD2 is now JUSTICE, i still like calling it ltd2. it takes me back to my childhood and Val and i have more fun making fun of it that way. i worked from 5 until close tonight and that was interesting. its one of those jobs where you always feel new. like, I've been working there for over a year now (i need to get a life) and a lot of times my manager or customer will ask me a question and i have no idea what the answer is, so i play it off like I'm new because that was always my excuse, but I'm really not new anymore. at all. so it kind of doesn't work.

My manager that i worked with tonight is a funny one. her name is pam. she is 54 years old and shops at justice. she literally wears the clothes that she picks out for enthusiastic 8 year olds. the majority of our merchandise is either neon, has peace signs on it, or sports a monkey or other cute creature. pam sports these as well.

i worked with a new girl tonight, who i don't think likes me. actually she probably has no opinion of me whatsoever but i just don't think she does. not that i care. i'm in college.

i have to work again tomorrow. but there is a light at the end of the tunnel of darkness. i am leaving directly from work to go to LBI for the fireworks. cant wait.

then sunday i leave for a missions trip. aka sweat mania. gross food mania. bonding time with random people. hopefully i won't eat a lot and i'll sweat a lot because today as i was eating hummus (which is really impressive for me because i don't usually eat healthy) my mom told me that my face looked fuller. FML.

Ashworth Wedding

I can't believe that Jared and Mandee and married. It's funny. I knew Jared because he was the hot shot at DC when i was in middle school and he was a big senior. he was cool and funny and my 2nd grade teacher's son. Mandee was my middle school youth leader and my mentor. i wanted to be her when i grew up. including moving to south africa and dancing for Jesus. It's funny that they're now 2gether4eva.

the wedding was in mystic connecticut. the famous home of mystic pizza. where the rehersal dinner was by the way. which was delicious. on a scale of 1 to 10 the pizza is a 3..but it's famous so it's cool. and they had legit italian food as well which kept me satisfied for a while.

i sang in the wedding and was really excited and honored to do so. i had sung in a couple of weddings before and never really get nervous for anything, so i thought i was golden. no. i messed up a lot and sounded like garbage. all the adults thought i was wonderful. maybe they were hard of hearing. one of my best friends who knows my voice better than anyone because i sing with him said....it wasn't as bad as you think. AKA. it was bad.

the reception was lovely. the food was good. my green beans were a little too intense but its whatever. the dancing was sick wit it and i was breaking it down...neon paint on my face and all.

i talked to ryan lewis about blogging...that was on my top 5 fav things of the evening.

i went to a house with 3289 other people after the wedding was all over and we played catch phrase and smoked cigars into the wee hours of the morning.

does anyone care?
probably not...

best investment i've ever made. i even became friends with the guy that was selling them so that i could get a discount. his name was dillan and he was a total bro. i think he used the word rad 6 times. he also told me all the hot spots to get buffalo wings in virginia beach. i told him to go to jims steaks in philly.
