You have a great body

Just a few minutes ago at lunch, Rob (if you don't know who this is please reference my previous post) complimented Chelsea on her smokin' gymnast body. Chelsea does have a killer bod and no one would deny that. But Chelsea did not know how to respond to such a compliment. This is something that we all deal with. (not the killer bod part, the awkward compliment part..) I'm really bad at receiving compliments myself, because I either don't think that person is telling the truth, or I don't know how to respond without sounded conceited and vain.

There are a few great ways of responding to compliments that I have learned over the years by observation...
-there's always the classic.."you too!" response. Which people use 85% of the time, but only mean it 3% of the time. If someone compliments you on what a great shirt you're wearing, do NOT say "you too" if they are wearing a heinous article of clothing. It's a lie and they know it. Use this response appropriately.
-One response that I use quite frequently when people compliment my clothes is responding with the location that I bought that article of clothing....for example:
"laura, I love you skirt!"
"I got it at Macys!"
I need to stop doing this so much. JUST SAY THANK YOU. they could care less where you got it. If they wanted to know where you got your skirt they would just ask. moving on..
-"Thanks so much!" is always a great way to respond to a compliment on your smile, body, clothes, a musical performance etc...just saying thank you is all you really need to do. Don't feel like you have to out-do that person's compliment with your response. They don't care.
-Some of the most awkward compliments I've ever received were after I would help lead worship at my church. People would come up to me after the service and tell me what a great job I did. I felt so wrong about it. I feel like I shouldn't be recognized when I'm leading worship, it's about God NOT about me. But anways...I would always make a really awkward face and say thanks in a shaky weird voice. But I'm beyond that now.

No one compliments me anymore so i dont have to worry about this.

6 moths

I have been seriously slacking lately. SERIOUSLY. Liz Wright and Ryan Lewis are the reason that I keep hope for my blog.

Liz - your blog is on my top 10 visited sites page on Safari. Embarrassing? no way.

I have a lot to catch the blogging world up on in my life. At this very moment I am laying in my bed with 32879 text books and leisure reading books laying all around me. my phone next to me, and a piece of chocolate in my mouth. Life is good. Not really. this week is finals week. I just took my COM 203 exam. it took me 40 minutes. not sure if that's a good or bad thing. I'm going to go with good thing. i have a psychology exam wednesday, english paper due thursday and econ exam friday. Econ will be the death of me. I'm certain.

For the record. I only have like 10 or 12 friends here at berry college. I'm not complaining, i love them all dearly. so don't be alarmed when i reference them. Here they are...
1. Courtney - best friend from middle and high school. lives in the room across the hall.
2. Brooke (I only call her Brookie) Roommate. From Georgia. Funny.
3. Rob - friend. long story. he's hilarious. he sings.
4. Jared - Rob's roommate. quiet. only cares about TV and football. in the honors program.
5. Jason - Courtney's boyfriend. Lives on Rob and Jared's hall. preppy golfer.
6. Haley - funniest girl in the universe. lives 2 floors above me. We laugh a lot together.
7. Chelsea - lives at the end of my hall. tiny and precious like Val. funny. reader. we talk about books a lot together.
8. Jamie - Chelsea's roommate. so funny. loves youtube videos. one day i will post the funniest video in the world that she made.
9. Ariel - lives on my hall. from texas. singer. funny.
10. Arielle - we're the same person. hilarious. from north carolina. dating edward cullen.
11. Anna - one of my first friends here at berry college. came home with me over thanksgiving break. from Rome, GA. looks like Jamie Lyn Spears
12. Andy - Anna's boyfriend. funny. can sound just like T-Pain. likes fishing

ok so those are my friends. We have a blast all the time.

At least once a week brookie and I do a late night run to Wendy's.
At least twice a month brookie and i dye our hair
At most three times since i've been at school i've worked out
At least once a month i go to a sweet concert (Ingrid Michaelson, Mat Kearney, Copeland etc)

I went to Disney World over fall break
I spent a weekend in the mountains with haley, her boyfriend micheal, his brother casey, chelsea, arielle and rob. we played catch phrase and ate food mostly.
I've been to Chattanooga a few times and decided that i would totally raise a family there
I'm on my third church. Its interesting to not be at calvary. i miss it.
I am a visual communications major and art minor
I've lost two pounds since I got here.

LTD2!!!!1~

I have the most laughable job in the universe. while the beloved LTD2 is now JUSTICE, i still like calling it ltd2. it takes me back to my childhood and Val and i have more fun making fun of it that way. i worked from 5 until close tonight and that was interesting. its one of those jobs where you always feel new. like, I've been working there for over a year now (i need to get a life) and a lot of times my manager or customer will ask me a question and i have no idea what the answer is, so i play it off like I'm new because that was always my excuse, but I'm really not new anymore. at all. so it kind of doesn't work.

My manager that i worked with tonight is a funny one. her name is pam. she is 54 years old and shops at justice. she literally wears the clothes that she picks out for enthusiastic 8 year olds. the majority of our merchandise is either neon, has peace signs on it, or sports a monkey or other cute creature. pam sports these as well.

i worked with a new girl tonight, who i don't think likes me. actually she probably has no opinion of me whatsoever but i just don't think she does. not that i care. i'm in college.

i have to work again tomorrow. but there is a light at the end of the tunnel of darkness. i am leaving directly from work to go to LBI for the fireworks. cant wait.

then sunday i leave for a missions trip. aka sweat mania. gross food mania. bonding time with random people. hopefully i won't eat a lot and i'll sweat a lot because today as i was eating hummus (which is really impressive for me because i don't usually eat healthy) my mom told me that my face looked fuller. FML.

Ashworth Wedding

I can't believe that Jared and Mandee and married. It's funny. I knew Jared because he was the hot shot at DC when i was in middle school and he was a big senior. he was cool and funny and my 2nd grade teacher's son. Mandee was my middle school youth leader and my mentor. i wanted to be her when i grew up. including moving to south africa and dancing for Jesus. It's funny that they're now 2gether4eva.

the wedding was in mystic connecticut. the famous home of mystic pizza. where the rehersal dinner was by the way. which was delicious. on a scale of 1 to 10 the pizza is a 3..but it's famous so it's cool. and they had legit italian food as well which kept me satisfied for a while.

i sang in the wedding and was really excited and honored to do so. i had sung in a couple of weddings before and never really get nervous for anything, so i thought i was golden. no. i messed up a lot and sounded like garbage. all the adults thought i was wonderful. maybe they were hard of hearing. one of my best friends who knows my voice better than anyone because i sing with him said....it wasn't as bad as you think. AKA. it was bad.

the reception was lovely. the food was good. my green beans were a little too intense but its whatever. the dancing was sick wit it and i was breaking it down...neon paint on my face and all.

i talked to ryan lewis about blogging...that was on my top 5 fav things of the evening.

i went to a house with 3289 other people after the wedding was all over and we played catch phrase and smoked cigars into the wee hours of the morning.

does anyone care?
probably not...

best investment i've ever made. i even became friends with the guy that was selling them so that i could get a discount. his name was dillan and he was a total bro. i think he used the word rad 6 times. he also told me all the hot spots to get buffalo wings in virginia beach. i told him to go to jims steaks in philly.

weird...

I have two days of high school left. how weird is that. it's kind of freaking me out. but i'm excited at the same time. algebra is the dumbest thing in the entire world, it is the only thing that keeps me from breaking down and crying when i think about leaving high school. ok maybe not the only thing. there are other things that KILL me about high school....

to name a few...

1. MATH in general. all math. all numbers. kill me.
2. awards assemblies. there was one today and it made me feel like a waste of space because i never ever win any awards. i'm not athletic, good at math, on the chess team or extremely weird and fluent in german.
3. the sophomore class. they think they're cool. they're not.
4. the no eating in the library rule. not even diet coke. this one bites val in the butt everyday.
5. you must tuck your oxford in rule...ok this doesn't really count because i've never tucked my oxford in.
6. no hooded sweatshirt rule. what is that..like really who cares.
7. while on the topic of dress code...no flip flops? really? but we can wear tacky high top sneakers? ok
8. homework
9. the number one thing i didn't like about high school was having to run the mile. hands down.

I have neglected my blog far too long

i put this picture up for a few reasons...

lets start with the positive.
1. it's in Georgia which is where I'm going to school next year. It's beautiful there and the people are good looking with accents. aka I don't fit in.
2. It's on river street in downtown Savannah which is where i was first introduced to pecan pralines. delicious.
3. it looks like court and i really love each other. and don't get me wrong we do, but sometimes we don't hug in pictures. court isn't one to hug often.
3. i like my outfit.

now...here are some serious problem
1. it's never ever worth it to take pictures facing the sun. no matter how many pictures turn out like this i never learn my lesson.
2. never ever take pictures facing the wind. i have bangs for a reason and when they are thrown back against my head i look even more awkward.
3. it looks like i am wearing one earring. i'm not i assure you.

thanks.

Signing Off

There are many ways to conclude letters, e-mails and yearbook entries. I can't decide what one if my favorite. Val thought it would be beneficial and entertaining to make a blog about it.

snow day

I came across this random picture and it made me want summer. really bad.
At this very moment I am stuck in my house due to massive amounts of snow and all I can think about is the beach. Meanwhile I am attempting to write a term paper that is due on Friday that I have yet to think about. We were told to select a social issue and write a paper on it. Vague much? I chose human trafficking, and while it is an important issue, I've been depressed all morning. To balance the saddness, I've been listening to soft jazz and eating pumpkin cake.

Where do I begin?

The real reason I got this blog is Liz Wright.
Her blog is funny and entertaining, and I hope that one day I can be half the blogger she is.
I'm still not sure I totally understand the whole "blog" thing either.
I'm sure some people write about their daily occurrences, but I won't bore you with those...often.
I'll just share what I think about different things, usually unimportant things.
Not that anyone will even read this.
